I’m Alissa… writer, storyteller, wife, mom to three boys, and a corporate escape artist in progress.

For years, I mapped my career to the next position, chasing what I thought success was supposed to be. Bigger titles. More responsibility. A longer climb up the ladder.

But the truth: that kind of success is overrated, unless it’s exactly where your heart wants to be.

What I’ve discovered is that there are always other trails and it’s never too late to explore them. I’m soaking up my 40s, still clocking 8 to 5, and determined to make time for creativity, writing, and adventure.

Rise & Shine You is my creative home and my public statement to live a little daring. It’s my living portfolio for freelance and ghostwriting, a collection of essays, and soon, the base camp for my podcast. A space to share everyday stories of those living unconventional lives to remind us that success isn’t one-size-fits-all.

When I’m not writing or working, you’ll find me at a football game, baseball field, or the side of a wrestling mat, cheering for our boys who keep my heart racing and calendar full. When I step away, I’m usually outside, reading, finding trails, and discovering new topics to write about that don’t fit neatly into a niche.

Writing and adventure are how I make sense of the world. It is a constant reminder that I am rooted in faith and guided by grace with fire in my heart.

So why Rise & Shine You?

Because storytelling is powerful.

Because every person deserves to write their own.

Because when we share our real stories… the messy, the beautiful, and the unexpected we remind each other that life isn’t meant to be perfect. You can always start a new chapter.

This space blends the lessons I’ve learned in healthcare and corporate life with creativity and outdoors. It’s an invitation to connect, reflect, and remember who you wanted to be.
